No. 001 — Manifest
Most containers in this province are sold like scrap metal. We sell them like buildings. One-trip steel, real paint, real cladding, real roofs — finished in a Foothills yard, dropped on your spot, and done right the first time.

Why a
Nice Can?

We don't sell sea-cans. We sell finished buildings — same steel as the rusty one in your neighbour's back lot, finished the way it should have been the first time.

01 / Steel

One-trip, never used.

We only build on premium one-trip containers — first time off the ship, no rust history, no patched-over damage. The box is half of what you're buying.

02 / Pricing

Retail prices. No quote games.

Six builds with published prices. Configure on top with itemized add-ons. You see the number before we pick up a wrench.

03 / Finish

Built in the yard.

Cladding, roof, windows, electrical, kit-out — done before it ships. You don't get a half-built shell dumped on your gravel pad.

04 / Drop

Placed, not dumped.

Free tilt-deck delivery within 100km of Calgary. We level the can, walk your site with you, hand over keys in person.

Track
your build.

Every Nice Can build gets its own log. You get a private link the day we start, and we update it as we go. No wondering where your project is at.

01

Steel Arrives

Your one-trip container lands in the yard. We send you a photo, condition notes, and the ETA for cut day.

02

Cut & Frame

Doors, windows, and openings cut to your spec. Framing welded in. Photos before paint hits.

03

Paint & Kit-Out

Sandblast, paint, electrical, finish work — every step photographed and logged on your private build page.

04

Drop Day

Tilt-deck or HIAB delivery. We walk the site with you, level the can, and hand over the keys. Final sign-off in person.

A flat, level pad — gravel base minimum, concrete piers ideal for any heated build. We'll walk the site with you ahead of drop day. Bring boots.
02
Truck Access
Tilt-deck needs 80ft of straight approach for a 40ft build. HIAB upgrade available for tighter spots — usually adds $1,200–$2,400 depending on reach.
03
Permits, If Needed
Most counties don't require permits for storage builds under 600 sq ft. Heated/occupied builds (Sweat, Lift, Custom) may need a development permit. We can help.
04
Power & Water
If your build has electrical, we tie into a panel within 50ft. Water-fed builds (Sweat) need a frost-protected supply. Your electrician/plumber, we coordinate.

Who's
building?

Built in the foothills.

Nice Cans is a small Alberta crew building custom container conversions out of a yard south of Calgary. We work to a fixed lineup, fixed pricing, and a finish standard most container guys don't bother with.

Every build that leaves the yard gets the same walk-around: hardware checked, paint inspected, doors swung, seal tested. If we wouldn't put our name on it, it doesn't ship.

We answer the phone. We do what we said we'd do. We finish the build before it leaves the gate.

Built in the foothills.

Nice Cans is run out of a yard south of Calgary, in cattle country. We're not a broker, we're not a website with a forwarded number — we're a crew that builds the containers we sell.

We serve southern Alberta and into BC and Saskatchewan on bigger orders. Stop by the yard. Bring coffee.

Common
questions.

Only if you ask for one. Every build is sandblasted, repainted, and lockbox-welded as standard. Add cladding and a gable roof and the Dressed Can reads as a purpose-built outbuilding from twenty feet away.
No catch. Six builds, published retail prices. Configure on top with itemized add-ons. The number you see at order is the number on the invoice. 50% deposit, 50% on delivery.
Two-year workmanship warranty, written and signed at delivery. We come back. Calgary-area service is on us; beyond that we quote freight ahead and you sign before we move.
Most rural Alberta counties don't require a permit for storage builds (Bare, Work, Lift) under 600 sq ft on private land. Heated/occupied builds — Sweat, residential Custom — often do require a development permit, and sometimes a building permit. We've worked with Foothills County, Rocky View, MD of Bighorn, and the City of Calgary. We can put you in touch with the right person at your municipality before you order.
A one-trip container has crossed the ocean once, loaded with new goods from a factory in Asia. It's structurally sound, has minimal cosmetic wear, and the original paint is still healthy underneath. A used container has spent 10–15 years in shipping rotation and shows it — dents, rust spots, faded paint, sometimes hidden floor damage. Used cans cost about half as much. We exclusively build on one-trip cans because the cost difference is small relative to the build, and the durability difference is massive.
That's the NC—006 Custom Can. Bring us a brief — sketches, Pinterest, napkin drawings, whatever. We'll come back with concept drawings and a fixed-price quote within two weeks. We can also stamp drawings with a P.Eng if you need them for permitting. We don't do anything we can't build to last, but if you can describe it, we can probably build it.
Bare Can is two weeks. Work Can is three to five. Dressed Can is four to six. Lift Can is six to eight. Sweat Can is eight to ten. Custom builds run on project timelines we agree on upfront. Lead times can stretch in the spring rush — if that's a concern, lock yours in early. Deposit holds your spot in the schedule.
We're still your guys. Most things on a Nice Can are field-serviceable — paint touch-ups, hardware swaps, electrical work. We charge service-call rates after the warranty period, but we'll always come out. We also keep records of every build for the life of the can, so if something needs replacing, we know exactly what was installed.
Not directly — but our equipment finance partners offer lease structures that work like rent-to-own with a buyout. For business customers, leasing has tax advantages (you can usually deduct payments as operating expenses). Talk to us about your situation and we'll point you to the right product.
Yes. The container itself is built to be moved — that's its whole job. We can quote a future move when the time comes, or refer you to a hauler if we're not the closest option. Bare and Work cans move easiest. Dressed and Sweat cans need a little extra care because of the cladding and plumbing — we'll walk you through it.
Yes. Construction sites, oilfield camps, retail pop-ups, glamping setups, dog kennels — we've quoted all of them. Volume pricing kicks in at three or more units, with bigger discounts at five and ten. Drop us a note with your project details and we'll come back with a structured quote.
We're in Foothills County, south of Calgary, near the highway corridor between Okotoks and High River. We'll send the exact address when you book a yard visit — saves us from drop-ins while we're welding. Visits run Monday through Saturday, by appointment, and we usually have a coffee on.
